In this issue, we continue to explore the notion of human dignity and what constitutes living a dignified human existence by focusing on creators, educators, thinkers, and organizations who, through their work and actions, reveal how it is possible to use history and cultural understanding to move traditions forward in responsible ways.  

As this issue comes to print, we are in the midst of a U.S. presidential election marked by polarization, frustration, and hostility toward fellow countrymen. We thought it important that we examine our candidates in terms of character, temperament, and practice not only to understand what -- if not who -- serves as an example of an enlightened leader, but of equal importance what might be done strategically to ensure a leader is elected who will embrace such concepts for the promotion of people desiring to live a dignified human existence.

We also share our experience visiting Hanging Stones, a land art site in the North York Moors, where world renown stone mason Andy Goldsworth has built 10  stone cabins each featuring a different sculptural commentary about the land once mined for iron ore and the people who made a living doing so.
